Very solid werewolf transformation story
This is the first book by Bill I've read and as a fan of transformation related shenanigans, I was excited to dive in. The premise is that Dale, the park ranger, is working an overnight shift at the ranger station while Adam, the electrician, is working on fixing the electrical system in the station overnight. The story follows Dale and Adam over the course of the night and how they both react to finding out Dale is a werewolf.
I found it an easy read and enjoyed the characters. I wish we would have gotten a little more info on Adam's life kinda like how we did with Dale. At times I felt as though Adam was meant to be the hunky young electrician, and while he's characterized like that, I also felt as though there was more that could have been explored with him. Kate stole all the scenes she was in, I really enjoyed her character and would love to read more stuff that had her as a character. As far as the transformation aspect of the story is concerned, I enjoyed it. The descriptions were well-written and there was a good sense of pacing out the changes over time. It didn't feel rushed and giving the characters time to react to the changes helps out a lot when writing transformation.
There is an aspect of alpha wolf and submissive wolf that is explored in this story, so if that’s not your jam then I would say to proceed with caution. And I only really mention this in case that’s a turn off for some folks.
I'm really glad Bill published this book. I'm a huge fan of transformation stories and seeing more people take the risk in putting out something like this is heartening to see. I'm excited to keep my eye on Bill for future books!
