Synopsis: The Kingdoms:
A civilization built in giant mangrove treees, where enchantments are common for the wealthy flying foxes of the upper branches.

When Koa was just a pup, a terrible storm killed his family and left him with shredded wings. Now living with his adopted otter family, Koa falls in love with a bat from the world he lost long ago.

Though he will never belong in a world made for those who can fly, he's willing to brave dark magic and treachery for just one dance.

Item Reviews
Original Page Turner
I could not put this book down. I loved it. The characters of Koa and his brother Tug are really well written with very snappy dialog. The story is a wonderful retelling of a popular fairy tale (I won't spoil which one) with some inventive twists. The Setting is original and spectacularly well made. The use of a magical mangrove forest with cities in the trees was a delightful idea. This is my favorite book in the fandom right now and I think everyone should read it!

Wonderfully imaginative and compelling!
An absolutely fantastic novella and my favorite Cupcake thus far. Mr. Campbell has succeeded once again in creating a fully realized world with believable and endearing characters that leap off of the page and make you feel as if you are a part of their world. In the world of The Kingdoms, a civilization built upon giant mangrove trees where the wealthy bats live at the top while the other non-flying animals live at the bottom, the story follows a young flying fox named Koa who is an orphan after a terrible storm killed his entire family and left him with shredded wings, leaving him unable to fly. Even after being adopted by a family of otters, he feels as though he doesn't belong. After falling in love with a bat from the upper branches, he longs to return to the world he was once a part of. Koa himself is a very inspirational character and one that speaks to me on a very personal level. I found it very easy to empathize with him because I am also physically challenged and I know all too well the struggles that come with being so. Despite the challenges he faces on a daily basis, he remains steadfast in going after what he wants and you can't help but cheer him on as you see him do his best to achieve his goals. Thankfully, he has the support of his family, especially his brother Tug, a rambunctious and absolutely charming otter who steals the show whenever he is present. Mr. Campbell is a master world-builder, effortlessly creating large and detailed worlds that might as well exist in reality. His worlds pull you in, enchant and amaze you, and by the time you reach the last page you are left wanting more. This book is no exception. I sincerely hope that Mr. Campbell will write more stories in this world as it has so much untapped potential. I cannot recommend this book enough. Get this book now! It will be worth every minute that you spend reading it.
